Dear Gathering Stones Calvary Chapel family,

In light of the current situation and government mandated guidelines I wanted to communicate what we are doing in this time. First of all Church isn’t something you can cancel. Church happens whenever ordinary people show the world the good news of Jesus. It’s not about a building or location its about the heart of the believers. Even though we may not all be able to gather “in-person” for church, you still have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others through demonstrating the heart of Jesus, in the way you love and care for those around you. While the impacts of the Coronavirus mean some changes to our daily lives, the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of people have not been put on hold and we must continue to care for those around us.

While we cannot control the virus, the spread or the impact it has in our church, we’re doing everything we can do to make our worship space as safe and clean as possible. We must also remember that God has not called us to live in fear but in faith. As the apostle, Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For the Spirit of God does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.” My prayer is that God will fill all of us with these three gifts, no matter what comes our way.

At GSCC, we want to care for you in all respects, including the physical well-being of our church community. To that end, we will not have service this weekend and plan to share a sermon link on Facebook and via text for you to watch if you so choose. We will watch the recommendations of the CDC and weekly make decisions on gathering. We love each of you and are praying for your family by name. Please contact me with any questions or comments.
